At the 1925 Schneider Trophy Air Races, pilot Hubert Broad and his Gloster IIIA (700 hp Napier Lion VII) won 2nd place behind Jimmy Doolittle's Curtiss R3C-2, with an average speed of 199.091 mph (320.537 km/h).
